Fly with Satellite Based Wi-Fi
Yesterday, on the first day of the month of February, Southwest Airlines had finally made an announcement of deploying Row 44's satellite based service of Wi-Fi. Such deployment will be put into reality on its complete flotilla of five hundred and forty passenger aircrafts. This verdict of installation had set the stage for a war of Wi-Fi in the blue sky with the Wi-Fi service of Aircell's Gogo. Gogo had already gone for the deployment of Wi-Fi service in seven hundred or more US aircrafts.
In recent times, according to the Aircell reports, it has been found that Gogo has increased their finance to a lump some of $176 million which spurred the development of its Wi-Fi service.
As stated by a Southwest staff in a blog, their installation process will have its beginning from the second quarter of the year 2010. They also affirmed the fact that the deployment of the Wi-Fi service will take place on fifteen aircrafts per month. They even confirmed that they are moving with a goal of increasing the number of deployment to twenty five per month.
The Wi-Fi service of Row 44 will be supported by the Hughes Network Systems. It is expected that the service will be presented on a large-scale basis to the other airlines. The reason is this service is not restricted by the terrestrial towers and therefore can smoothly function even when you are flying across oceans.
Then what are you waiting for? Catch your flight and fly with Wi-Fi.
