Google Lives Up to its Reputation
The Internet giant, Google gave $2 Million to Wikipedia Foundation. Well, with this move Google has once again opened up its charity wallet. For this time, the search giant of Internet has donated $2,000,000 to the Wikimedia Foundation, the organization that runs and maintains Wikipedia.
This generous donation was made in true social media fashion and it was announced via tweets on Internet from Wikipedia Founder Jimmy Wales and advisory board member Mitch Kapor. This news was not officially announced by Google or by Wikimedia Foundation through Internet. But it will be publicly announced soon.
This particular donation will definitely mingle with Google’s generosity to foundations that promote a faster and more open web on Internet. It is interesting to know that Google is giving money to Wikimedia Foundation now, as Google has launched its own Wikipedia killer called Google Knol on Internet just only one and a half years ago.
This generosity by the Internet giant will definitely add a star to Google’s image. It also proves that though it is in a race with Wikipedia but yet Google stands in a high position if we talk about its generosity.
