Install More Than One Operating System To Your Computer

While installing the upgraded versions of Windows you can keep the Windows XP on your computer. Wondering how? To know about this you have to follow certain techniques. This process of installing more than one operating system to your computer is known as ‘Multibooting’ process or ‘Dual Boot configuration’.

With your Windows XP operating system, before you start installing the updated version of Windows, ensure that the computer hard disk consists of a separate partition for every operating systems or it consists of multiple hard disks. If the computer does not consist of any of these then you have to reformat your hard disk and repartition it for each operating system. You can also install the updated Windows on a separate hard disk.

Before installing the updated version of Windows along with Windows XP, make sure that the disk or the partitions are formatted with the NTFS file system.

1. Switch on the system that is running Windows XP.

2. Insert the disc for installation into the DVD or CD drive.

3. Click on the option ‘Install now’ which you can locate in the ‘Install Windows’ menu.

4. If your computer is connected with the Internet then receive the latest updates from the page ‘Get important updates’.

5. Within the activation page type the twenty five character product key.

6. In the license page click ‘I accept the license terms’ after reading the terms of license.

7. Click the option ‘Custom’ within the ‘Which type of installation do you want?’

8. Click on the partition or the disk within the ‘Where do you want to install?’

9. Select the option ‘Next’ for beginning the process of installation.

Now start using a computer with a dual booting configuration. Happy Computing!
